A heart specialist has told a public inquiry in Vancouver into the use of Tasers that a shock from the energy weapon can be deadly.

San Francisco cardiologist Zian Tseng says a Taser shock at a vulnerable period in the heartbeat can produce a fatal rhythm. He says the heart could be even more vulnerable if there is high adrenaline or drugs, such as cocaine, present in the person’s system.

Tseng told the inquiry that just because someone dies minutes after a Taser application, it doesn’t mean the two aren’t connected.

We at Posted happened to catch the White House Correspondents’ annual dinner, which is available to watch on CSPAN. This is the biggest dinner in the Washington DC social calendar and, well, it’s President George W. Bush’s last visit. Here, he conducts a Marine band.

There is usually a comedian who performs. Two years ago, it was Stephen Colbert, who famously roasted Mr. Bush. In 2007, it was Rich Little.

Anyhow, the comedian this year was Craig Ferguson, host of the Late Late Show on CBS. He’s from Scotland, but now an American and during his routine, he mentioned why he came to America. Well, he mentioned also why he didn’t go to Canada after his relatives suggested he go there...

The Earth Hour campaign exhibited growing popularity around the world based on this weekend’s energy-saving efforts.

Participants in the United States and Australia who turned off their lights as part of the purposeful temporary blackout say by acting individually they hope to influence others to do the same, ABC News reported Sunday.

“If everybody just started to think about what little bits and pieces they can do for them in the big picture, that’s great. And this is the first little step toward something big and better,” one anonymous Earth Hour participant in Sydney said following Saturday night’s blackout.

The Internet search engine Google also joined the environmental effort, posting a message to its visitors during the second-annual event.

Magician Penn Jillette and tennis champ Monica Seles were the first stars eliminated from the sixth season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Each came into Tuesday’s results show in last place.

Jillette, 53, added a dash of magic to his quickstep, but his footwork failed to impress the judges. Despite his dismissal, the magician insisted that he and his professional partner would continue to rehearse daily and planned to perform in the parking lot.
